Start Your Engines!....audio.

This is a link to a group project I did for audio: http://d.facdn.net/art/wylde-fire/music/1291715582.wylde-fire_interactive_game_wav.mp3

We had to create the audio as if we were playing a video game.  We decided to go with a racing game. "Upshift: 100 over the limit"
We also had to make a cover for the video game. ^

My group memebers were: Cole Marini, Tori Lyn- Sue, Karsten Wilson and Victoria Pietsch.

Koi

I found this in my files. I started working on this so long ago but forgot about it with all the school work piling up. Maybe I'll finish it during the break and hopefully won't forget about it since it is now on my blog.  Anyways, it will eventually be a koi fish. I know I also finished the eyes and fins....But disappeared. I now have learned to save every 5- 10mins.  Many scales still to draw!

Just For Fun

From being inspired by my own skate deck and a great 2010 song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMtZfW2z9dw , I made this. It also follows the theme of "Predators". Something iffy was happening with illustrator so the text looks a bit off even though it says they all have the same values. I'll fix that another day if I have time.

There are predators and then there are the ones that find them. Like Antoine Dobson.

Skate Deck- DMA179

For our final assignment for sketching and communications we had to design a skate deck. My first idea was based on a bird. Any animal can be a predator. They don't necessarily have to look like a "predator", The bird by itself wasn't really working for me..Especially when adding the textures I had in mind. So after working with typography works, I decided to use text as my background and keep the graphics simple.

I decided to go with a monochromatic colour scheme. I used Red, black, white and some grey.
DESIGN- Amount of time spent: research/inspiration- 1 hour graphics-2 hours on graphics I ended up not going with. + 1 hour on ones I did use. sketching concepts-2 1/2 hours. Back to drawing board- 1 1/2 hours. mins. Putting everything together- 2 hours and 40 mins. Total time: 10 hours 40 mins.

Amount of time mounting to board: approx. 20 mins. Was being very careful.
With mounting total time spent: 11 hours.

Total amount of money spent: Skate deck- 30$. Printing- 30$. Total: 60$.

This is the version with the raster image in the background. Though I think it looks better without. The background raster image is kinda muted because of the text but it is suppose to be of a grassy area...where my buddy here can prey on some yummy worms!

Artist Assignment- DMA179

For this assignment we had to look up an assigned artist and create our own piece based on that artist's style. My assigned artist was Stina Persson. She is known for her water colour work, her dark edgy style and her papercut out work.

Soy Sauce Menu- DMA 179- In class exercise

For this exercise we had to paint a piece for a chinese menu...using soy sauce instead of paint.
As far as I know the Chinese symbols are meant to mean "Menu". It's always fun using unconventional materials/meduims.

Still Life-DMA188- In Class Activities

I was looking back and realized I had forgotten to post some in class activities we did.

For this one we were given a short time to paint still life objects using water colours.

Poor guy. Kinda just looks like he is bleeding. My first attempt on this water colour exercise...clearly not my best.

Photography- Kensington Market Booklet

This assignment was a big challenge with file opening and working with it on both a pc and a mac. The colour and text had some slight changes on a couple of the pages. I worked on the project in indesign (a program I have hardly used before) and now I know what not to do when saving/opening files. I had to work off of my PDF file and convert each page individually to a jpeg. So I pretty much did it the hard way. Thankfully it is finished. Definitely a learning experience.

Photography- Depth of Field

Initially for this assignment I wanted to shoot the trees outside. However, it didn't work out so well because of all of the snow. After that I tried 3 design books. For some reason it would not focus on the middle book. So I settled with some smaller objects. I'm not completely happy with the result and I will probably use what I learned to try it again in a more visually effect way.

Closest item in focus. (Marker)

Second item in focus. (Sprite Bottle)

                                                        Furthest object in focus. (Book)

                                                                  All Objects in focus.

Photograhpy - Shoe Ad

For my photography class we had to make a shoe ad. I did some research on my brand and noticed that they mostly have two different styles. The first which I went was simple. The second was a more provocative approach. Most consisting of a scantily clad women wearing the boot. So since I did not find any models willing to bare it all I went with the simple approach. The background is a picture of the inside of the boots, using the micro/macro function on the camera.
