DMA 233- Lyrics- I Need A Doctor

For this assignment we had to choose a lyrics or a song and use type/images to illustrate the meaning of the words. I generally do not like using too many fonts in one composition. However, it was helpful in figuring out appropriate fonts for different uses.

For this one I tried to focus on the mind being lost. In each work I emphasized the important words. But hopefully the main theme is clear.

For this one the images focuses on the time line.

My third piece focuses on being brought back to life. I will add it up soon. It is taking an too long to load at the moment.

DMA 233- Working with words

For this assignment we had to use text to express words.

 For the first explosion word I wanted to make it look as if the letters are actually exploding out of the center of the page. In the second one I went for the same kind of set up but in this one the explosion already happened and the letters are all everywhere. I think I may change the font of the second one. The more and more I look at it the more I hate it.

For my second word I chose repetition. The first one reminds me of a newspaper for some reason. Like columns and headlines. Not sure if I am happy with it. But I think it gets the point across.

For this one I just repeated a few of the letters behind the word. But I am thinking of using this font for my second explosion piece. Reminds me of the TNT symbol.

My third word is most likely gonna be hiccups. I'll post more soon.

DMA 233- Exercise 1

For this assignment we had to focus on one element at a time. One being the most prominent to the least prominent.

In this one I think the text is most important because the symbol is acting as a border almost.

In this one the symbol is the most important element. Out of the three designs I like this one the best.

 The title name is the most important.

Minskoa 71- Some photos

So I went through some of my older photography to find pictures that I though could work for my shoe ad. Sort of a city scene. The buildings also represent the strength and stability and grande scale of thet shoe brand. I also think it could work with the heroine theme I have been working with. 

Maybe some light splashes could work. Have some sketches and thoughts I will upload when I get them on my computer.

MinSkoa71- New Direction

So I've thought about it. And my initial shoe is a little too well known to incorporate into a different brand. Though there are several knock off versions for many brands I just don't think they are unique enough for this project. I have a new shoe in mind. I will have to reshoot. I'm going to shoot black high top boots. I also got a friend to shoot another type/material of boot. Photos up soon.

Now I was sold on my boots from the man reason they were waterproof and it's winter. Somehow think thats not the best story to sell.


So for the concept/story.....

I saw a trailer of 'Sucker Punch" a little while ago. Though I have no memory of the storyline I did like the visual of the movie. Which made me think of movies with similar imagery. Resident Evil, Sin City, Underworld. So, I don't want to say the story I am going for is for a superhero. Because the term superhero flashes images of Triadic colour schemes,capes, slicked back hair,men wearing tights and George Clooney's bat nipples. Instead I will go with the character: Super heroine, female protagonist, Combat chick or badass bitch. The are always strong, powerful,capable and they can kick some major ass.

I like the visual comic book style of Sin City. Mainly chromatic colour scheme with pops of colour.

  

Trying to defeat the undead or simply just on the journey to kicking ass? Need a good pair of boots. Obviously.

Now I have no idea what is going on in Sucker Punch (Maybe I should watch the trailer again) But from what I can tell the girls in some kinda of combat in a fantasy world. Fantasy or not they will still need shoes/boots.

 

 

I also like the monchromatic visuals of these pictures. But will probably explore using more colour as well.

Rain/Walking on water? Need some waterproof boots.

It looks like all badass chicks wear black boots.

  

 

MinSkoa71

These are the photographs I took last semester for our shoe assignment. We are suppose to use them for our new project this semester for a MinSkoa 71 Ad. I think it more subtle brand would be easier to incorporate into the MinSkoa brand. So I may have to go back to point A and re-shoot a new shoe or come up with a way of incorporating them to fit MinSkoa71. Which will be difficult because  I personally think these shoes are more about comfort than anything. The MinSkoa 71 brand as I see it is suppose to be more unique.
